AMS OSRAM Group

AMS OSRAM Group designs and manufactures high-performance sensor solutions for applications requiring the highest level of miniaturization, integration, accuracy, sensitivity and lower power.

AMS OSRAM Group products include sensor solutions, sensor ICs, interfaces and related software for mobile, consumer, communications, industrial, medical, and automotive markets. AMS OSRAM Group advanced developments drive worldwide leading applications requiring small form factor, low power, highest sensitivity and multi-sensor integration being present with optical sensors in the most advanced smartphones.

AMS OSRAM Group’ headquarters are in Premstätten near Graz, Austria with a state-of-the art 200mm CMOS manufacturing line including optical interference filter and post-processing capabilities. Key research and development facilities are based at the headquarter in Austria covering technology R&D and IC design development departments together with 18 design centres worldwide.

AMS OSRAM Group operates direct sales offices in all major regions of the world. AMS as a part of AMS OSRAM Group revenue in 2019 exceeded 2.0B$ with a major contribution from advanced consumer and mobile sensor device solutions.

Role

As a worldwide leader in sensor solutions, AMS OSRAM Group will provide its expertise and knowledge in sensor system development and integration specifically for automotive applications. AMS OSRAM Group will target to develop enhanced reliability models and methods to ensure advanced VCSEL-based solutions. As part of this project we will join forces with external research partners such as the Technische Universität Graz (TU Graz), Material Center Leoben Forschung GmbH (MCL) and the Technische Universität Chemnitz (TU Chemnitz).

Key contribution

As part of the project, AMS OSRAM Group will contribute in the development of reliability models based on Physics of Failure. In addition, AMS OSRAM Group will develop electro-optical testing concepts that will enable improved reliability testing and failure prediction. Overall, AMS OSRAM Group will lead one use case, three different tasks and will contribute in 20 other tasks in this project.
